Gate 56 Human Design | Gene Key 56
Shadow: Distraction
Gift: Enrichment
Siddhi: Intoxication
Greatest expression: Using personal stories and experiences as a way to enrich the lives of others and your own. Seeing all of life as an opportunity to nurture other people with stories and tales of adventures and learning.
Centre: Throat
Connects via: Gate 11
Shadow frequency described as: Distracted. Lost in limited stories or narratives. Telling stories that suck the life from you or others, rather than enrich their experience. Victim of distraction or being over stimulated.
Shadow question: Where do the stories you tell about yourself hold you back? What do you believe to be true about yourself? Where do you distract yourself rather than feel?
This is a hungry gate. It basically means you need to have adventure, experiences, and plenty of them, and to share your adventures in the form of storytelling. A common gate seen in those who have been in the armed forces, for example, or led exciting and colourful lives especially early on. These adventures turn into stories which can be passed on for inspiration and ideas for thought and to spread belief, so the more adventures you have, even if it’s just trying new things on an evening, the richer your experience will be. Your work will need to compliment this adventurous spirit rather than being a traditional 9-5 for this reason. So, how might you find an environment where you can continue your love for adventure, collect your lessons and stories, and inspire others around you are you go?
Question: Do you have enough adventure in your life? Or do you crave more?
Frequency Affirmation: “I step into my purpose when I allow myself to be adventurous rather than tied down.”
Personal reflections
I was listening to the Gene Keys via Audible on the morning of writing this, and it struck me how much time I, and others, must spend in the shadow of the 56th Gene Keys, distraction. The 56th Gene Key is a real trigger point for me. My Chiron sits here, activating a lifelong love/hate relationship with storytelling. What I really observe in the collective under this gene key, is how far the shadow of distraction goes. As I write we’re sat in gate 56.5, it’s 22nd July, and so I’m expecting projections and problems under the gate 56 shadow of distractions. Within about 30 minutes of the sun entering this part of the gate, I get an email. Someone I did a reading for astrologically a few weeks ago, asking about house placements and whether I would do a reading on whole sign houses instead because they preferred the system.
It struck me as an opportunity to reflect on distraction, because I see this a lot. We spend so much time concerned with the learning, the external things at play, that we forget we already have many of the answers on the inside of us. We don’t need another system, or another reading (I’m doing myself out of a job here!). We just need to stop, pause, and go within. I experience this a lot with 5/1’s (sorry 5/1’s!). The world generally has a lot of distraction, but ultimately this holds an opportunity to begin questioning what enriches experiences, rather than distracts us from them. In this instance? I declined the reading. I did not feel I could enrich this experience, and it’s not a system I use. I didn’t want to learn more to just pass on what I’d learned. For me, it would be a distraction, and I couldn’t add any more value than I already had. So I walked away from the £££ and stuck to my enriching values, rather than distracting myself with more noise. And here I am, writing this down.
How does distraction creep into your life? Is it obvious? Or is it more subtle?
I love the way there’s actually quite a small ‘shift’ mentally required to go from most shadows to the gifts. In this instance, it is to begin questioning the enrichment value of what you’re focussing on. Is the thing you’re filling your time currently enriching yours, or others lives? Or is it merely distracting? A classic example; doom scrolling vs learning something of value. You might use the same tool, a phone, but what you do with that phone can be of shadow frequency (distraction), or of gift (enrichment).
Where might you turn distractions into enrichments? What small shift is required here?
And finally, the siddhi frequency, the pure, harmonious, enlightened frequency of the 56th Gate, is that of Intoxication. Swallowing all of life’s experiences and becoming drunk on them. The good, the bag, the ugly get turned into intoxicating stories and wisdom to enrich the lives of others. Do you accept all of lives challenges and create wisdom from them, or do you distract yourself from experiencing the breadth of what life, emotions, and opportunities have to offer? Intoxication happens to few people. How many of us can truly say we dive deeply into the pool of all of lives challenges and use those experiences, adventures and obstacles to enrich the lives of others?
Something to ponder as we embrace the 56th Gate in Human Design, and the 56th Gene Keys…
